Welcome to Bucktail Guide Service. When I started Bucktail years ago, I believed anglers of all abilities should be given the opportunity to increase their skills, have confidence in their casting ability, and be provided the opportunity to use those skills to fish these great waters.

Years later, our purpose has not changed. Our mission is to offer fly fishing adventures while maximizing teaching moments for anglers to fish smarter, and better with more consistency while fishing some of the most pristine waters in Maine. Isn’t that what we all want? In our busy lives, time on the water may be limited. So let’s make the most of it. Fish smarter…fish better.

Bucktail Guide Service is a full-service flyfishing guiding service offering flyfishing adventures in the Rangeley area of Western Maine as well as York, Cumberland, Androscoggin, Oxford, Somerset, and Kennebec Counties. We guide on the Upper Kennebec, Upper Androscoggin, Magalloway, Kennebago, Rapid, Swift, Sandy, Presumpscot, and Little Ossipee Rivers to name a few. We offer half-day and full-day wade, float, and remote canoe trips on the waters of Maine as well as multi-day overnight trips. As well as providing excellent guiding, we offer a full range of fly-fishing instructions. Bucktail Guide Service is a fully insured Orvis-endorsed operation where all guides are First Aid Certified.

Additionally, we offer customized small group (4 people max) fly fishing adventures to the rivers within majestic Yellowstone Park in Wyoming and selected waters of south-central Montana.
