When I started Bucktail years ago, I believed anglers of all abilities should be allowed to increase their skills, have confidence in their overall fishing ability, and be allowed to use those skills to fish great waters.

Years later, our purpose has not changed. Our mission is to offer safe and affordable fly-fishing adventures to every angler while maximizing teaching opportunities to fish smarter, and fish better while enjoying some of the most pristine waters in Maine, Montana, and Wyoming. Isn’t that what we all want? In our busy lives, time on the water may be limited. So let’s make the most of it. Fish smarter…fish better.

Bucktail Guide Service is a full-service fly fishing guiding service offering remote fishing adventures in Western Maine, Montana, and Yellowstone Park in Wyoming. We offer half-day and full-day wading trips, float boat trips on large rivers, and remote canoe trips on isolated ponds. Looking for that once in a lifetime trip?  We offer customized multi-day overnight outfitted trips within Maine in search of the Blue-back trout or fishing the majestic rivers in Yellowstone Park’s front and back country.  

As a 5-star rated Orvis Endorsed guide, our service is second to none. Each day trip comes with the use of Orvis equipment, locally tied flies, a tasty lunch, snacks, guide humor, and great memories.  We offer a full range of fly-fishing instruction, outdoor education programs, 3-day learn to Fly Fish class, outfitted trips, and equipment rentals. Bucktail Guide Service is a fully insured, where all guides are experienced, trained, and First Aid Certified.
